Long Weekends

I was delighted to know that there are two upcoming Holidays this August, 23 for Ninoy Aquino Day and 30 for National Heroes Day, yahoo! Two consecutive long weekends, great! I hope I can take a rest, only IF my helper will not go on a holiday leave too. I wanted to bring the kids at Science Discovery Center or watch a 3D movie at SM IMAX, but maybe I have to surprise them because the rain might spoil their expectations if they heard about my plans.

You have to be one hour earlier before the screening time when purchasing tickets at SM IMAX to get a good seat. I was wondering who will buy Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium Tickets, tickets are readily available at A Cheap Seat and they will be more than willing to assist you by giving them a call at 1-708-535-8682. Someday soon I wish to buy the kids Ringling Brothers Circus Tickets because they are fond of circus and magic show. Purchasing tickets online is the best thing to do especially if you are looking for Kyle Field Tickets, you will receive ticket confirmation within 24 hours.

Eid’l Adha, Amendment on Philippine Holiday

BAD NEWS for those who had plans on the erroneously declared holiday....
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has declared the two-day celebration of Eid’l Adha later this month as holidays only in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Eid’l Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice or Day of Sacrifice, is observed after the hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

The Office of the Press Secretary announced on its website Saturday that Ms Arroyo issued Proclamation No. 1808-A declaring Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 regular holidays only in the ARMM and not the entire country.

This new proclamation amends Proclamation No. 1808, which declared the two dates as national holidays in observance of Eid’l Adha and which was issued on April 12 this year.

“The reason being is that when we first announced it to be a holiday, we found out a little later that there’s a republic act that declared this holiday only in the ARMM. We had to correct it,” Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said in a phone interview.

He was referring to Republic Act No. 9492 which provides for the celebration of Eid’l Adha as a regional holiday in the ARMM.

Businessmen have been complaining about the many holidays every year, saying that an excess would adversely impact on productivity across all sectors.

“Not necessarily,” Ermita said when asked if the amendment was prompted by pressure from the business community.

But he admitted that Malacañang always consulted with the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Labor and Employment before issuing holiday proclamations in order to get a reading of the concerns of the community.

“You might say we just want to be sure we don’t want to adversely affect the interests of the business community,” he said.

Had Malacañang stuck to the original proclamation of making Nov. 27 and 28, a Friday and a Saturday, national holidays, the public would be seeing one of the longest weekends this year, because the following Monday, Nov. 30, is Bonifacio Day, a regular non-working holiday.

This wasn’t the first time Malacañang amended a proclamation on holidays. source

Holiday Treat

I pampered myself today by going to the parlor for a hair treatment with free foot and hand spa [its part of their promo]. Nag feeling queen while they were doing it all at the same time [sarap matulog habang pinagsisilbihan ka]. We really should find time from our busy schedule to coddle ourselves from time to time.
I finished 2 kilos of lanzones today....delicious!

More Holidays!

We were just so lucky that since first week of August (Pres. Cory Aquino's funeral), there's almost a one day holiday every week! Very timely while my helper was in a 3 week vacation. Tomorrow is a non working holiday again in honor of the late Iglesia ni Cristo's Executive Minister Erano "Ka Erdy" Manalo. September 21 was also a declared non working holiday too (end of Ramadan).
Yesterday we attended my niece' birthday celebration at McDonalds Fort Bonifacio, will upload the pictures later because I left my camera's cable at the office.
For the meantime I was resisting myself to post some photos because of my application with Social Spark. Well I'm just wondering why my application with SS more than a week ago was neither approved or disapproved, maybe John is on leave too. (LOL).

She will be buried at the Manila Memorial Park beside her late husband, Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino. A mass will be held at 9am at the Manila Cathedral before the burial. GMA declared a holiday to allow the nation to witness the moments before Cory is brought to her final resting place according to Lorrelei Fajardo, deputy presidential spokesperson.
