Ronald Verzosa Singson has been accused of trafficking in dangerous drugs in Hong Kong and is scheduled to appear at the Tsuen Wan court on Aug. 19.
Singson, 41, was arrested on July 11 at the Customs Arrival Hall of Chek Lap Kok International Airport, with 26.1 grams of cocaine and two tablets of diazepam (a sedative, marketed as Valium), according to court records.
The records also showed that Principal Magistrate Ernest Lin rejected Singson’s application for bail, and that the Filipino national has been detained since.
Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson has denied that the accused is his son, a reelected congressman of the first district of Ilocos Sur and a promoter of big foreign concerts in Manila.
Asked about the report, Representative Singson’s business partner, actor Jomari Yllana, told the Inquirer that he spoke by phone to the governor, who, he said, told him that Ronald was “on his way back to Manila and will make an official statement.”
Chavit Singson said he and his son Ronald were in Mongolia.
According to Comelec records, the middle name of Representative Singson is Verzosa—which has a slightly different spelling from the Ronald Versoza Singson arrested in Hong Kong.
JM Rodriguez, director of Channel V, a cable music station that Ronald owns, also said father and son were in Mongolia and would be “away for a month.” read full story here
