Stainless forever

Who wouldn't want these great kitchen sinks? Stainless steel sinks are most practical and convenient type of sink that we should buy, it can really lasts for a longest time. They are compatible too in any design of kitchen you have. Visit the home of different type of kitchen sinks and you can also find triple bowl sinks, undermount sinks, bar sinks and other sink accessories. I loved the round sink because it is not an ordinary type but the bar sink is the commonly used type of sink. I lived in my mom's house now and would you believe that she bought the sink that we are using now in the US? I told her to visit Sinks USA to avail of the high quality of the product and free shipping too.

My sister in the US really wants to have a very nice kitchen so I would really recommend her to visit this site. Why go for stainless? It is easy to clean, it is very durable and can last for many many years, affordable and can match most kitchen decor styles. Being a mom of three kids, she can really choose what type of sink is the most convenient to use.

Effect of climate change

After our badminton tournament last Saturday, I was stranded in Malabon area because of the flood. I asked the traffic aide what time will the water subside, he said maybe at around 12am. I decided to stay in one corner of Ever Grocery Store, it was also raining then and I am already wet because the water there is knee deep already. I feel very devastated and very sorry for myself because I feel cold already and I am so helpless not knowing how can I go home , I cannot contact my kids because there's no line of communication and I'm also saving my cellphone's battery.
A truck arrived and we asked the driver if we can have a ride until we passed the bridge because they said the water in the bridge area is almost 4 feet high, 2 men helped me to go up. Unfortunately the truck cannot proceed because the water is really very high, impossible to pass by. The truck driver returned us to where they picked us up so we have no choice but to wait there until it is passable. Hubby keep on telling me (through call & text) to call Au my officemate who live near the area and stay in their house for awhile. It's already 1am when I texted Au, she said I can stay in their house but its already midnight no more pedicab to bring me in their house. Au was so kind to fetched me and I stayed in their house until Sunday morning. I charged my cellphone first before leaving their house.

While walking in the flood (waistline deep) I feel that I'm going to have a cramp, thank God I saw 3 boys playing with a styropor and I asked them if they can bring me to Obando, they gladly obliged.
This is in Barangay Panghulo, Obando
There was a report for another storm this coming Thursday named Pepeng, let's all pray that it will not be as harshed as Ondoy. I am wondering if this tragedy is part of the effect of global warming.

Halloween Costumes

We went to the mall last Sunday and Makoy requested me to buy him a toy at Toy Kingdom. Nikko was more engrossed at the different Halloween costumes displayed in one area. Last year they had a Halloween party at their school and the two of them bought new costumes complete with accessories. They want a costume that can really scare their classmates. But! They won't allow me to wear the costume and scare them.

More or less these are the two costumes they liked because it is really scary! Guess what, these two frightening costumes are available at Costume Couldron, the web's finest Halloween store.
Ordering online is hassle free and Costume Couldron offers free shipping too. You may contact their 24 hour customer care at 1-800-890-0409 for your Halloween costumes. Visit their website to select from the different costume types they offer:
  • Adult costumes
  • Teen costumes
  • Kids costumes
  • Toddler costumes
  • Baby costumes
  • Pet costumes
They also offer different accessories like theatrical makeup, masks, pumpkin carving, decorations and supplies, magic and card tricks and other related supplies. I guarantee you will truly enjoy the sample costumes here. A number of adult costumes are also being offered here. Its good to see a family with their different on while attending a Halloween party. The kids will surely enjoy the treats around and they will not forget their baskets for the free goodies.
Magic tricks are well loved by the kids now. Nikko bought a book about magic tricks and he's really practicing how the tricks work. Of course I have to look amazed on his tricks so he can feel confident doing it. One thing I don't like during Halloween? I gets easily scared with the Halloween programs and I don't like to think that my dad will visit me because it has been seven years since the last time I visited his tomb. They count down the days to Halloween! Go here!

Still Searching

I'm still dreaming and searching for the right and affordable car for me. With the frequent flooding on our streets I think a small car or a brand new car won't fit. While searching the net, I found a site that offers new cars, leasing, used cars or even selling your cars. It will help you find what suits your needs and capability of your budget. Of course affordability is a major factor in choosing the best car today. You can also find popular used models in their site like Nissan, Mazda, BMW, Peugeot, Toyota, Ford and many others just visit their site for more information.

I tagged along with Nikko on her lunch date with fellow bloggers Kittykat and Pehpot. Kat arrived last Monday from Davao to accompany her brother, they will stay here for 2 weeks. We had our lunch at Tokyo Tokyo People Support branch so Kat can easily find the place. I didn't recognize her right away because she's prettier in person!
Of course our conversation will not be complete without discussing traffic, contests and other bloggers.
Too curious about the movie "In My Life" , they will watch it now.

It Must Be Good

The tag line of Star Cinema really fits on the quality of their movies... "If its Star Cinema, it must be good". I watched the movie "In My Life" last night with good friends Cherrie & Jojo. I just texted them if they are available yesterday and we decided to see the movie at SM Valenzuela. It's my first time to visit the place, I guess it's the smallest mall of SM, but their cinema is good.
The movie met my expectations, but I think John Lloyd really outshine Vilma Santos in some scenes like during their confrontation scene during the wake of Luis Manzano. Vilma Santos (as Shirley) played the mother of Luis Manzano (who played the character of Mark), John Lloyd as Noel was the boyfriend of Luis in the movie.
The 3 main characters have their own highlights, Luis and JL really fit the characters they are portraying. My gay friend Jojo can really relate to the love story, while me and Cherrie can relate to the scenes of Vilma being a mother. I love Dimples Romana, she's really outstanding in all her characters she is portraying and I can relate in their stories as well of being a daughter.
The movie ran for 2 hours and its still showing on theaters nationwide.

$3 for Daniel

I want to re-post this from Niko's blog to help Daniel on his much needed operation:

George Daniel Arevalo Samson, 5 months old son of my high school friend Clarissa has biliary atresia with cirrhosis and is in immediate need of liver transplant. The operation has never been done in the Philippines and the doctor’s advice is to go to Taiwan for the cheapest operation of which will cost roughly 3 Million Pesos ($60,000).

Now, no matter how much I feel ashamed for asking help again, there is a must in my heart that says I have to do it for the sake of the child and their family. I am now on my knees, with tears in my eyes knocking on each of your hearts for $3 to help save Daniel’s life...

I know God moves in mysterious ways and I have faith that the Lord will grant us our fervent wish if we ask in group. I am asking for prayer power and blog power, if you have a blog please spread about this $3 for Daniel Project.

Or you might want to send your donation right away at my paypal address: leonytimbas@gmail.com/beng.monje@gmail.com, surely your $3 will bring little Daniel to TAIWAN the soonest possible time!
All donations to Daniel can be send through his mom's bank account: Bank of the Philippine Islands under the account name Ma. Clarisa A. Samson, S.A. No. 3536 0445 53.

Thank you very much! God bless your heart!

Elimination Round

As expected, maybe due to lack of confidence too, BDO and McNuggets beat our team. Eastern-Data, our team was an equal match with Team Genosi, this time we beat them on Women's Doubles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Mizuno people got our sizes later in the afternoon, we will claim our free rubber shoes next week on the championship game. Players are almost the same faces as last year with only 1 or 2 new teams joined this year.
Phoemela Baranda hosted the opening ceremony. My right eye was bitten by an ant [grabe sa timing], put some ice on para lumiit ng konti.
Phoem was super sexy indeed...lalo na pag katabi ako..hehehe

here's our group picture with Phoem, McDonald's officials and Ronald himself.

More Patience

"Lord, please grant me more patience..."
There were times that I wanted to give up my role of being a mother to my youngest son. I believe that I really have tons of patience, but my packed was almost exhausted. When my anger gets up I have no choice but to give him a whip... but after doing that I'll explain to him why I have to do it...after a few more minutes, as if the bad spirit had left his body (OMG!) and he'll be back as the jolly kid I know.
I was trying to convince myself that maybe he will outgrow his tantrums and will be soon like his kuya who is mature enough to act, think and refusing to disobey me because he doesn't want to be scolded.
"Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with love and guide us always, Amen..."

Eid'l Fitr, End of Ramadan

September 21 is a declared Holiday in observance of Eid'l Fitr. Here are some insights of Ramadan:
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natured; from dawn until sunset (6am to 6pm). Fasting is meant to teach the Muslim patience, modesty and spirituality. Ramaḍān is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God (Arabic: الله‎, Allāh), and to offer more prayer than usual. During Ramaḍān, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds. As compared to solar calendar, the dates of Ramadan vary, moving forward about ten days each year as it is a moving festival depending on the moon.
The elderly, the chronically ill, and the mentally ill are exempt from fasting, although the first two groups must endeavor to feed the poor in place of their missed fasting. Also exempt are pregnant women, women during the period of their menstruation, and women nursing their newborns.
Eid ul-Fitr
The Islamic holiday of Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر‎) marks the end of the fasting period of Ramadan and the first day of the following month, after another new moon has been sighted. The Eid falls after 29 or 30 days of fasting, per the lunar sighting. Eid ul-Fitr means the Festival of Breaking the Fast; a special celebration is made. Food is donated to the poor (‘Zakat al-Fitr’), everyone puts on their best, usually new, clothes, and communal prayers are held in the early morning, followed by feasting and visiting relatives and friends. The prayer is two rakaahs only, and it is optional (waajib) prayer as opposed to the compulsory five daily prayers. Muslims are expected to do this as an act of worship, and to thank Allah (God).

Mary Travers

Another sad news today, Mary Travers, the female third of the wildly popular folk trio "Peter, Paul & Mary" passed away September 16 after battling leukemia at the age of 72. She passed away at Danbury Hospital in Danbury Connecticut.

In 1969, their cover of the John Denver song "Leaving On A Jet Plane" became their only number one single. The trio broke up in 1970 to pursue solo careers, but never matched the success they enjoyed as a band.

Travers dived into activist work, speaking out about the challenges facing Russian "Refusnik" Jews whose applications to emigrate from the Soviet Union were denied, in support of human rights in Central America, and against South African Apartheid.

The trio reunited often for concerts, but took a pause when Travers was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. She eventually had a bone marrow transplant, side effects of which contributed to her death. But not before reuniting for several tours that saw the group play dozens of concerts in recent years, including their final performance together in May 2009 in New Jersey. source: Inquirer

Paoay Ilocos Norte

I missed visiting my father's hometown at Paoay, Ilocos Norte. During my younger years, almost every summer vacation were spent there. Mango trees are everywhere so our past time is eating mangoes while killing the time. We enjoyed riding a bike to the plaza where the famous Paoay Church is located. At night, we will visit the plaza again to eat the famous delicacy of Ilocos, empanada.
I also missed the never ending visits to Malacanang of the North, Marcos' body at Batac, Suba Beach and Laoag's Fort Ilocandia. I hope we can find time to visit it soon, my last visit there was 7 years ago.

Blog or Magic Sing

After doing a lot of household chores later this afternoon , I took the magic sing to relax and let my kids play at the computer. They are fond of the games in Y8. But after 4 songs Nikko asked me if they can go to my MIL so they can play with their cousins there. I let them go. But now I was torn what to choose, to sing or to blog. Since its been like ages the last time I sing, I sang 4-5 songs more before returning here and I was doing some task on post partum traditions. I am almost finished, just need some editing and I have to ask the leaves that I used then.
Just like Smart, the weather is unpredictable so the bed sheets I washed were still wet. I hope haring araw will visit tomorow and stay the whole day.

Free Mizuno Shoes!

Bad News- there will be no free t-shirt on the invitational Badminton Tournament of McDonald's this coming Saturday September 19, 2009.
Good News - free Mizuno rubber shoes for the participants. I was not familiar with this brand because I'm not fond of branded things. But when I broke the news with the other players, they were so excited. I found out that Mizuno was famous on athletic shoes (golf, baseball/softball, volleyball and running). One pair costs P4-5 thousand pesos. Everybody agreed that we have to be there as early as 6am so we can still choose and reserve our sizes.
